This summer, Nike along with San Francisco-based agency AKQA unveiled a new basketball court in Shanghai, China that really changes the game. But instead of polished boards, the entire floor is covered with LED lights.
Named “House of Mamba” for Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant, aka “Black Mamba,” the court debuted during Bryant’s visit overseas.
USA Today reports that the court can project logos and animation. It also has built in sensors to track athletes on the court and their progress. The lights of circles and x’s are something out of NBA Jam.
The LED court was specifically built for the Nike Rise, a competition for young Chinese basketball players. The participants will have a chance to play with Bryant and Cleveland Cavaliers’ LeBron James.
