Apparent Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will hold two campaign rallies in Washington state on Saturday, according to the campaign’s state chairman.

Sen. Don Benton, R-Vancouver, told OPB that Trump plans one rally on the state’s west side and another on the state’s east side. But Trump will not appear in Vancouver, because the campaign was unable to find a large enough venue amid graduations and other already scheduled events, Benton said.

“You've got to have a venue large enough to hold a few thousand people, and most of those venues are booked up, probably before Mr. Trump even became a candidate,” Benton said. "We had hoped for three events in Washington, but that’s a rigorous schedule, and we’ve decided to settle on two for Saturday."

But Benton did say that Trump, scheduled to appear in Eugene Friday night, would visit Southwest Washington.

“We're planning to bring Mr. Trump back to Southwest Washington at a later date before the primary,” he said.

Washington Republicans vote May 24. Oregon's primary ballots are due May 17.
