Documenting Northwest Life Through An Activist's Lens

Eugene-based documentarian Tim Lewis takes an unconventional approach to filmmaking. He records whatever interests him and makes it available for others to purchase and use in their own projects. This strategy has led Lewis and his camera into some sticky situations, putting him in the middle of Earth First protests and the resulting police face-offs. In 2011, his footage from these protests was featured in the Academy Award-nominated documentary “If A Tree Falls: The Story of the Earth Liberation Front.” At the heart of his work is his passion for the outdoors and a desire to protect the forests he and his daughter call “home.”
