Echoes Of Umpqua: Words From Grieving Families

The families of four of the nine victims of the Umpqua Community College mass shooting provided emotional statements to the public earlier Friday.

High-ranking members of local law enforcement and emergency response read the statements — or portions of them — to the public.

Treven Taylor Anspatch was 20 years old and the son of a firefighter. A statement from his parents, Justin and Kim, was read by Chief of Douglas County Fire District 2, Greg Marlar.

Lucas Eibel, 18, of Roseburg, was one of the youngest victims. His family's statement was read by Oregon State Police Sergeant Cari Boyd.

Jason Dale Johnson was 33, and lived in Winston, Oregon. Douglas County sheriff John Hanlin read the family's statement.

Quinn Glenn Cooper was one of the youngest victims, at age 18. Oregon State Police Sergeant Cari Boyd read a portion of his family's statement.

The nine victims ranged in age from 18 to 67. Five of them were between the ages of 18 and 20. Six were men, and three were women.

There were also nine who were injured in the shooting.
