It wasn’t quite the crowd that vendors were picturing at the Madras Municipal Airport on Saturday.
Vendors set up on the tarmac were disappointed Friday and Saturday with the number of people at the venue.
About 25,000 people were expected to fly, drive and bus into the airport grounds over the weekend for Monday’s total solar eclipse, but only a fraction of the estimated crowd had arrived by Saturday morning.
Officials had a different viewpoint on the unexpected lack of crowds on Oregon roadways: So far, so good.
