The Patchwork Of US E-Waste Laws


With no federal standards regulating what electronic items get recycled or how, the state-by-state approach has left this patchwork of inconsistent regulations. Read "The Circuit" to learn more about e-waste.

Half of all states have laws for electronic recycling. Some states' programs cover only households, ignoring businesses and schools. Many programs cover laptops and tablets but exclude common items like printers or e-readers.
