We were first introduced to Gold Casio two years ago during an unforgettable performance recorded at OPB. The Portland-based dance-pop band made a strong impression back then on our staff with their catchy beats and art-rock inspired performance — figuratively and literally. In fact, we occasionally still find gold glitter stuck in the office carpet.
The band’s latest release, a six-song EP called “SINNERS,” is out on April 20, but you can pre-order it now. Until then, we’re offering up a full preview of the record that bandmember Julius Cassian describes as “a body of disco-laden dance music filled with lush electronic textures, funky driving bass, groovy guitar, and versatile vocals that could feel just as at home through headphones in a bedroom as in the subs of the nightclub.”
Gold Casio have an album release show in Portland on April 18 at Holocene along with Sheers and Mood Beach. It’s a free show.
They are also playing in Seattle on April 20 with Wild Pink and Dana Buoy at Fred Wildlife Refuge.
