If Indie Rock is in good hands in 2018, that’s largely because of artists like Angel Olsen and Courtney Barnett, newcomers within the last five years making powerful and vital music. Olsen’s 2013 album, “Burn Your Fire for No Witness,” first introduced us to her vulnerable songwriting and tender-tough voice, in a record that encompassed fuzzed guitar freakouts and emotional, pared-back ballads. Follow-ups “My Woman” (2015) and “Phases” (last year), find her voice still front and center while softening the band textures around her, while Olsen turns and repeats phrases as if to squeeze out some purer sense of truth from their margins.

This year, Angel Olsen is touring solo, in what she calls the Tiny Dreams Solo Tour, and plays two nights in Portland, September 12 and 13 at the Newmark Theater. Tickets go on sale May 4.

We’re giving away tickets to the concert Wednesday, September 12 at 8pm, and entry is easy:
