Last month marked the 10th anniversary of Bon Iver’s surprise hit record “For Emma, Forever Ago.” Its beautiful, wintry folk music was written and performed by Justin Vernon, who, according to the story, spent months in an isolated Wisconsin hunting cabin reinventing his music. Songs were conceived initially as wordless melodies, later acquiring the haunting, quivering falsetto voices that mesmerized listeners in 2008. Bon Iver’s third album, “22, A Million,” came out in 2016. In recent performances, the band’s been unveiling new or unreleased songs, including some written in 2008 around the debut record.

Bon Iver returns to Portland for a sold-out concert Thursday, May 24 at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. We’re giving away tickets, and this is all it takes to enter:
