Bon Iver’s new album “i, i” is a record for autumn.

After his stunning 2008 debut “For Emma, Forever Ago” and its well-known backstory (recorded by Justin Vernon in solitude, in a Wisconsin cabin in winter), the next album, “Bon Iver” turned the page to spring. 2016’s release “22, A Million” was the summer album, setting the table for “i, i.”

The new record draws from an expansive group of contributors including James Blake, Jenn Wasner (Wye Oak, Flock of Dimes), The Dessner brothers (The National), Bruce Hornsby, and Moses Sumney, in addition to Vernon’s core group.

“It feels very much like the most adult record, the most complete,” says Vernon. “It feels like when you get through all this life, when the sun starts to set, and what happens is you start gaining perspective. And then you can put that perspective into more honest, generous work.”
