Dripping Springs, Texas, a short drive west of Austin in the Texas Hill Country, is where Israel Nash calls home and makes his records. Nash settled there after the 2016 election to escape the daily news and lose himself in new lyrics and melodies. And as if his music wasn’t already sonically baked in the Texas sun and dirt, Nash incorporated natural sounds captured on the property around his home studio — rainwater, limestone, frogs, crickets and a rattlesnake — into his new record, “Lift.” He played one of the new album’s songs, “Lucky Ones,” for Austin station KUTX.
