“The Vietnam War,” a documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick, premieres later this month on PBS stations nationwide (September 17th on OPB-TV). The project features original music written and recorded by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, as well as more than 120 popular songs that define the era.
In conjunction with “The Vietnam War,” OPB’s Oregon Experience will debut a documentary that explores how the war still deeply affects Oregonians, even nearly 50 years after the end of combat operations in Vietnam.
With that in mind, the opbmusic staff compiled this playlist of some of our favorite songs that were inspired by the Vietnam War. Protest songs, patriotic anthems, contemporary takes, and historic looks back — they’re all here.
