opbmusic is proud to premiere the video for Indigo, the latest single from Portland’s Old Wave. The track, which Old Wave singer/songwriter Adam Brock describes as “an underwater love song with a bubbling groove,” continues along the group’s path of crafting charming songs with simple melodies, tricky time signatures, and indie pop sensibility.
The video features the unique watercolor animation of Oregon native Amanda Townsend and was the result of an unusual long-term collaboration between the two artists. Nearly a year ago, Brock sent Townsend an early demo of the track, and she began work on the watercolors, themes, and scenes that would eventually become the Indigo video. As the song progressed, so did the artwork. “It sounded amazing with each new version, so I also went back and tweaked things or re-did scenes for improved image quality to match the quality of the song,” says Townsend.
As with many of other tracks on the album, Indigo has an immediate quirky, catchy quality that we think you’ll enjoy as much as we have at opbmusic.
Editor’s Note: Old Wave’s self-titled debut album is out now. The group plays Doug Fir with Tango Alpha Tango and Us Lights on Saturday, February 21st.
