Welcome to the Monday Mix, where each week we highlight three standout songs debuting on the opbmusic broadcast.
Kate Tempest - “People’s Faces (Streatham Version)”
The Skinny: Tempest’s beautiful and bittersweet missive rails against humanity’s worst tendencies while admitting just how pervasive they are in the modern world.
Release Date: This remix came out on Sept. 12 via Republic.
PNW Shows: Kate Tempest played in Portland Sept. 27.
Sudan Archives - “Confessions”
The Skinny: It’s a grandiose hip hop song driven by orchestral arrangements and the looped violin playing of singer Brittney Denise Parks.
Release Date: The album “Athena” is out on Nov. 1 via Stones Throw Records.
PNW Shows: Nothing yet. Sudan Archives played at Pickathon in Happy Valley, Oregon, in early August.
Patrick Watson - “Dream For Dreaming”
The Skinny: The Canadian singer offers a tease of his forthcoming release “Wave” with this dreamy single. It’s jazzy, ethereal and catchy.
Release Date: “Waves” is out on Oct. 18 via Domino Records.
PNW Shows: A U.S. tour hasn’t been announced yet, but Watson plays in Vancouver, Canada, on Jan. 16 at Vogue Theatre.
