Each Friday our staff shares an eclectic mix of new music that’s recently debuted on the broadcast at opbmusic. This weekend we highlight a supremely confident pop singer, a collaboration between members of two acclaimed indie rock bands, and a duo who get some help from a Portland soul legend.

Santigold – Can’t Get Enough Of Myself

Innovative singer and producer Santigold makes a cheerful splash with the reggae-inspired “Can’t Get Enough Of Myself,” a precursor to her 2016 album, 99¢. It’s the first we’ve heard from the Brooklyn artist since the release of her sophomore album in 2012. The new single is a vivid, self-positive electronic pop piece that bolsters Santigold’s hit-producing prowess. As the song opens she sings, “I’m pretty major… I’m the best thing around.” I’d take her word for it.

Ra Ra Riot – Water

Syracuse-based six-piece Ra Ra Riot has joined forces with Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend for their latest single “Water”. Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot‘s Wes Miles have already won many over as a team with their early futurepop project Discovery. If “Water” is any indication, Ra Ra Riot’s upcoming album is sure to be a charmer as well.

El Vy - Sleeping Light

Matt Berninger (The National) and Brent Knopf’s (Menomena, Ramona Falls) turn as El Vy has proven to be more than a side project for the two established musicians. Their debut album, Return to the Moon, has dominated opbmusic’s charts and is full of choice tracks, including “Sleeping Light”. The song, one of the more mellow and personal tracks from the album, perfectly suits Berninger’s baritone and also features “Portland’s pillar of soul” Ural Thomas.
