Portland-based record label Tender Loving Empire is set to release the ninth installment of its annual Friends & Friends of Friends compilation album in early November. This year’s comp features 39 tracks from artists in and around the Rose City music scene, including a song from power pop musician Mo Troper.
Troper’s contribution, “Hurricane,” which you can hear exclusively at opbmusic, is a B-side from his recent release Beloved. With its Kinks-inspired guitar work and wailing garage rock harmonies, the song is an infectious (but brief) reminder why Troper is one of the most promising young musicians to come out of Portland in the past few years.
The Friends and Friends of Friends compilation release party is Thursday, November 3rd at Holocene in Portland, OR.
