Portland band Typhoon is set to release their new album on Jan. 12. It’s the fourth studio album for Typhoon, and it may be their darkest. Frontman Kyle Morton has said it’s a dystopian record, about a person losing his memory — or perhaps a country losing its cultural history.
Typhoon has never shied away from heavy and highly personal songs. Their 2010 album, which was their introduction to many fans, was largely about Morton’s battles through serious childhood illness. But Typhoon’s sprawling size (at one point, more than 15 members) and emotional, even joyful, live shows, have earned them a special place among Portland bands. Simply put, nobody else does quite what they do.
Our studio session/happy hour with Typhoon is Friday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. in the OPB studio. Tickets are free, but limited in number. RSVP HERE to get tickets.
