U.K. band Temples released their third album, “Hot Motion,” last fall, returning to the group’s love of psych-rock sounds and inventive production.
Temples started in 2012 in Kettering, England, where the founding duo of James Bagshaw and Tom Walmsley began recording at home and experimenting with off-time recordings of guitars to create a larger, kaleidoscopic sound. Once they began to receive offers to play gigs, they expanded the band, including another guitarist, Adam Smith. When we caught up to the band for a 2017 soundcheck session at the Crystal Ballroom, Bagshaw talked about the challenges of taking a studio creation on the road. With their new album out now, the band is back on tour in the U.S. and we’re giving away tickets to their upcoming Portland show.
Temples will play Doug Fir Lounge on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 8 p.m. The openers are Art D’Ecco and Shadowgraphs. This is a 21+ over show. Here’s how you could win a free pair of tickets:
