Last year, VuHaus, NPR Music and public radio music entities around the country, including opbmusic, launched Slingshot, a new project to elevate exceptional emerging artists. The first group of artists included opbmusic favorites Big Thief, Jamila Woods and Lo Moon. As the artists toured around the country, public radio stations featured their performances and music for listeners everywhere.

For 2018, Slingshot is growing. Each member station has nominated an artist or band. Many, like WebsterX (nominated by Radio Milwaukee) and Haley Heynderickx (nominated by opbmusic), are important players in their local music scenes. Others, like Jade Bird (nominated by KXT), are rising stars from abroad. Keep an eye out for new additions throughout the year.
