K. Ishibashi, the artist behind Kishi Bashi, stopped by OPB’s Think Out Loud this week. He spoke with host Dave Miller about making music, touring, and striking out on his own solo project after years spent playing with other bands - including Regina Spektor and of Montreal. (listen to the interview here).
Kishi Bashi’s debut album, 151a, garnered high praise after it’s release in 2012. His newest, Lighght (pronounced simply “light”) came out earlier this month. It’s delightfully frantic and playful, feel-good music with a ambitious streak. There is a sense of whimsy in Ishibashi’s looped vocals, violin, and beat-boxing that feels like a breath of fresh air.
