This week opbmusic and NPR Music premiere a new performance from the Pickathon Wood Stage, featuring Brooklyn band DIIV. The video begins with a brooding song called “Yr Not Far” and segues briskly into a second song, “Dopamine.” The latter song was released last fall, and deals frankly with heroin addiction. Both songs are on DIIV’s new record, Is the Is Are, which frontman/songwriter Zachary Cole Smith has said will be about struggling for sobriety. Is the Is Are will be released in February.
Pickathon has also announced its 2016 festival lineup, with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Yo La Tengo, and Beach House among the headliners. Pickathon will be August 5-7 at Pendarvis Farm outside Portland.
Every month this year, opbmusic and NPR Music present another episode from the Pickathon Woods Stage Series, hand-picked by opbmusic to showcase some of the most exciting performances from the 2015 festival. Look for the next video premiere on February 2nd.
