OPB Covers Malheur Trial With New Weekly Podcast

As the federal trial for the people who led the 41-day armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge begins, OPB has launched the new weekly podcast This Land is Our Land. Each week, OPB reporters like Conrad Wilson and Amanda Peacher — along with attorneys and other journalists — will provide trial recaps, in-depth analysis and insight into the legal process surrounding the high stakes trial.

With a new episode each Friday, This Land is Our Land is available for download in the Apple iTunes store, via the NPR One app, on the OPB website and wherever podcasts are available.

This Land is Our Land expands on the OPB News coverage of the events in Harney County, offering fresh perspectives, timely trial updates and lively conversations with experts from around the Northwest.

Additionally, the podcast offers listeners one of the only chances to hear what is happening inside the courtroom, where media seating will be limited.

“The podcast is going to be a great way for people to keep up with an unprecedented trial,” says Wilson. “At the same time, we’re going to be talking about some of the larger themes that came up during the occupation of the refuge. Big picture, this podcast is looking at the struggle over public lands and what that means for the American West.”
