OPB Wins Two Telly Awards

Oregon Public Broadcasting has received two prestigious international Telly Awards for programs in its Oregon Experience series. Linus Pauling, produced by Nadine Jelsing and edited by Bruce Barrow, and The Oystermen, produced by Eric Cain and edited by Lisa Suinn Kallem, won Bronze Tellys.

Linus Pauling is considered one of the greatest scientists and humanitarians of the 20th century and is the only person in history to win two unshared Nobel Prizes - for chemistry in 1954 and Peace in 1962. The documentary explores the life of this remarkable man and how growing up in Oregon helped shape him and his career.

Back in the 1850’s, throngs of East Coast people came west in search of gold. Some who failed went looking for something else almost as valuable – oysters. They found a mother lode in the shallow bays of Oregon and Washington. The Oystermen explores the historic dips and turns of the Pacific Northwest oyster business and celebrates some of its many colorful characters.
