OPB’s weekly local television series Oregon Field Guide will premiere Thursday, October 6 with a stand-up paddleboarding adventure down the John Day, the longest undammed river in Oregon. On a four-day excursion through the scenic wilderness, expert Paul Clark shows the Field Guide team why “Adventure SUP” is a great way to travel.
Next, the episode goes behind the scenes of “Discovering Valhalla: Oregon’s Hidden Gorge,” the Oregon Field Guide special that explored a beautiful canyon full of waterfalls and unusual rock features in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness Area. In this look at the making of that special, viewers will get a better sense of the scope of the expedition and just how many people it took to capture Valhalla on film.
The show concludes with a visual tour of forests and waterfalls along North Fork Lewis River in southern Washington.
