In April, the Portland Bureau of Development Services rolled out a
for folks who want to contest demolitions in their neighborhood.
Among other things, the changes require that developers give 35 days notice to neighbors who live near a property slated for demolition. It also reversed a controversial demolition delay exemption that allowed developers to replace one single family home with another without any notification or delay period.
Six months later, we're checking in with a city official, an architectural preservationist and a developer to hear how the new process is going.
