Earlier this summer, the White House held its first Tribal Youth Gathering and members of the newly formed Warm Springs Youth Council were there. Seven Warm Springs teens went on the trip, after raising money from individuals, the local school district, the tribal council, and local businesses. They got to see First Lady Michelle Obama speak and meet with members of Oregon's congressional delegation.

Keeyana Yellowman was part of the group from Warm Springs. She told OPB it was inspiring to be around so many Native American youth from all over the country and she's excited to bring some of the ideas from the gathering back to the Warm Springs Reservation.
