SW Washington Homelessness | For-Profit Colleges | Seattle Income Tax

• A controversial homeless shelter in Kelso, Washington, has been shut down, leaving many people with nowhere to go. Meanwhile, nearby Longview has restricted new homeless shelters in the area. OPB reporter Molly Solomon gives us the details.

• The U.S. Department of Education is rolling back a loan forgiveness program for students defrauded by some for-profit colleges, and Portlander Niesha Wright is one student that's fighting back with a lawsuit. Wright describes her experience at the now-defunct Portland ITT Tech. Sociologist and author of "Lower Ed: The Troubling Rise of For-Profit Colleges in the New Economy" Tressie McMillan Cottom also joins us to put Wright's story in larger context.

• The Seattle City Council passed an income tax for high-income earners last week, even though the state doesn't have an income tax at all. Councilmember Lisa Herbold sponsored the bill, but Paul Guppy, vice president for research at the Washington Policy Center says it will likely face legal challenges.
