The Bonneville Power Administration is eager to move past a hiring scandal that went public last year, landing the agency in hot water with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Following a damning federal investigation that found hiring manipulation and discrimination against veteran applicants, the DOE took control of BPA’s human resources and legal departments. Last month, BPA regained its human resources and hiring authority, but a recent employee survey shows morale at the agency is still low.
BPA has plenty of things to focus on as it emerges from the hiring scandal. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission accepted the agency’s new oversupply management plan October 16, a key step in addressing the long-standing issue of balancing wind and hydro power.
