Death: An Oral History by Casey Jarman

For the last year and a half, Casey Jarman has been talking about death and dying, mortality and grieving. He heard about the raw, new pain of losing a mother, and the ongoing ache of losing a spouse. He heard about rituals, end-of-life psychedelics, the funeral industry and his own family’s stories.

Jarman, who used to be the music editor at Willamette Week, distilled these conversations into a new book, “Death: An Oral History.”

Today, Jarman joins us on the show to talk about his new book. We’ll also hear from Jana DeCristofaro and Teressa Raiford — two of the women he interviewed.
