  • A Multnomah County program allows people to “hire” semi-feral cats to catch rats and other pests. Multnomah County feline care coordinator Karen McGill tells us about the Kitties for Hire program.

  • Ron Bersin, the executive director of the Oregon Ethics Commission, joins us. He’ll tell us more about the investigation into allegations of conflict of interest and other violations of state ethics laws against former Gov. John Kitzhaber and his fiance, former first lady Cylvia Hayes. The report on Hayes was released in January, and the commission voted last week to accept 10 of the 11 findings in the report looking specifically at the former governor’s actions. Questions surrounding Hayes and alleged conflicts of interest ultimately lead Kitzhaber to step down from office in early 2015, shortly after winning a historic fourth term as governor.

  • Author Renée Watson won two awards from the American Library Association last week for her young adult novel “Piecing Me Together,” which was based on her experiences growing up in Portland. Watson joins us to talk about “Piecing Me Together” and her latest book, “Betty Before X.”
