'American Eclipse': Journalist David Baron On The Eclipse Of 1878

A solar eclipse will travel across Oregon later this summer. When an earlier eclipse crossed America in 1878, scientists traveling out west to watch it had to contend with train robbers, the U.S. wars with Native Americans and a country that didn’t place much of a priority on scientific learning. Author David Baron tells the tale in his new book, “American Eclipse.”
