Before a new law went into effect July 1, it was not uncommon to see the phrase “No Section 8” in vacancy postings, indicating that people who get governmental assistance through housing vouchers need not apply. The new law prohibits that kind of discrimination. Because the law is still new, the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) is conducting statewide trainings to help landlords understand it and avoid unintentional violations.
