  • China has proposed a 15 percent tariff on hazelnuts grown in the United States in addition to a 25 percent tariff already in place. Oregon produces 99 percent of the nation’s crop of hazelnuts. Terry Ross, a representative at the Hazelnut Growers Bargaining Association, joins us to talk about the impact of the tariff on the Oregon industry.


  • The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last week that employers cannot pay women less than men because they made less at previous jobs. Last year, Oregon lawmakers passed a bill forbidding employers from asking job candidates about their pay history. Liz Tippett, a University of Oregon law professor and former employment law attorney, joins us to talk about the legal issues surrounding pay equity.
