- Jordan Schnitzer’s real estate investment company recently bought a stake in the old Wapato Jail, with the goal of turning the site into a homeless shelter. Multnomah County just agreed to sell the property to local developer Marty Kehoe, who had originally pitched a commercial use for the space. Schnitzer joins us to share his reasoning behind the investment and his goals for the Wapato building.
- Liv Osthus is a writer, singer, and stripper who has been working at Portland strip clubs for nearly 20 years under the name Viva Las Vegas. A new film about her life and her approach to stripping premiers this week. It’s called “Thank You for Supporting the Arts.”
- David Naimon, the host of “Between the Covers” on KBOO community radio, interviewed Ursula K. Le Guin on the craft of writing fiction in 2015. Over the next few years, he interviewed her twice more, on poetry and non-fiction. Those interviews have been collected in a new book called “Ursula K. Le Guin: Conversations on Writing.” Naimon tells us about working on the book with Le Guin right up until her death.
