On March 27, we recorded this show in front of an audience at Bridge Meadows, an intergenerational community in north Portland for children formerly in foster care, their parents and elders. We discussed the child welfare system — both problems and possible solutions — with the director of Oregon’s Department of Human Services, Fariborz Pakseresht and the head of the agency’s Child Welfare Department, Marilyn Jones.

We also listened back to the voices of some of the people we heard from in our recent series on Tennessee’s child welfare approach. We asked Jones and Pakseresht what elements of that model could work in Oregon, and heard responses from the audience as well.
