Historian H.W. Brand’s new book, “Heirs of the Founders,” focuses on the lives of Henry Clay, John Calhoun, and Daniel Webster.
H.W. Brands has written over 30 books about U.S. history. His newest is called “Heirs of the Founders.” It focuses on the decades after the ratification of the constitution and before the Civil War. A lot of the biggest issues that the country was grappling with then are still relevant today: tariffs and trade, the tension between state and federal control and the power of the president.
