The International Longshoreman and Warehouse Union Local 8 — the largest union representing port workers — may support the ideas of Occupy in principle, but they are not supportive of shutting down the ports. It’s currently unclear what will happen when the protesters create a line that the port workers need to cross in order to get to work.
Meanwhile in another part of the region, voters in Oregon’s second congressional district have created Occupy Congressional District 2. They argue that Congressman Greg Walden is reluctant to meet with the general public to hear the concerns of voters. But many in District 2 say that he’s an extremely responsive respresentative.
