New Evidence In 15-Year-Old Longview Murder Case

In 2002, Donovan Allen was convicted of the aggravated murder of his mother, Sharon Cox.
Lawyers with the Innocence Project Northwest say he didn’t do it. They got a judge to agree to new DNA analysis, and last week police charged a second man for the same murder.
But Donovan Allen is still serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. And now the Innocence Project Northwest is asking the court to vacate his conviction and grant him a new trial.

Editor’s note: We asked the Cowlitz County DA’s office, and the Longview police department for their perspective, but they did not return calls before deadline.
