It’s taken nearly two years, but a judge has now approved the legal settlement agreement between the U.S. Department of Justice and the Portland Police Bureau. The settlement was first announced in 2012, after a series of incidents where unarmed, mentally-ill suspects were killed by Portland Police officers, including James Chasse, Aaron Campbell, and Keaton Otis.

We’ll discuss the slate of reforms mandated in the settlement, some of which have already begun to be put in place by the police bureau.
