School Cuts in Beaverton

The Beaverton School District is one of the three largest school districts in Oregon and this year, it’s facing the biggest budget shortfall. Superintendent Jeff Rose presented a budget proposal Thursday night that would eliminate 344 jobs, including administrators and library media specialists in addition to teachers. The proposed cuts are an effort to bridge a $37 million gap without closing schools, something the district says it just can’t do this year.

Last year, Beaverton residents rejected a $14 million annual school levy.
