  • A federal judge in Portland ruled Monday that lawyers must be allowed access to 121 immigration detainees being held at the federal prison in Sheridan, Oregon. We catch up with OPB’s Conrad Wilson, reporting from Sheridan. We also talk with immigration attorney Eileen Sterlock about who applies for asylum, and what that process is like, and hear from Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D-OR), who has called for abolishing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency (ICE).

  • After struggling with drug addiction, homelessness and the death of his mother, Jacob Lucas has found redemption and a way to give back to his community: barbering. For several months he has been giving free haircuts to the homeless in Eugene, while working towards renewing his barbering license. We sit down with Lucas to hear his story.
