- In 2015, the Phoenix Islands Protected Area (PIPA) became one of the largest marine protected areas on the planet. As a result, the 157,000-square-mile-area of ocean became strictly off limits for commercial fishing activity. University of Oregon economist Grant McDermott joins us to discuss his findings and what he is calling “the blue paradox.”
- The Portland homeless encampment Right 2 Dream, Too has been in its temporary location in the Lloyd district for about a year. We’ll talk to member of the neighborhood association and a camp resident about how it’s been going and what the future might hold for Right 2 Dream, Too. Our guests are Sarah Carlston with R2D2 and Keith Jones, with the Lloyd Community Association and the Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods.
