  • Author and journalist Blaine Harden has written extensively about North Korea since his days as a foreign correspondent for the Washington Post. His new book, “King of Spies,” chronicles the life of U.S. intelligence agent Donald Nichols during the Korean War and shows how the Korean War shaped modern relations between the U.S. and North Korea.
  • Journalist Hal Herring used to work in the woods. He spent years working on tree planting, forest thinning, and doing other jobs with crews hired to work in federal forests. Now he says the nature of those jobs has changed. Rick Herson is one of the founding members of the Oregon tree planting cooperative Hoedads.
