Washington Legislature Enters Second Special Session

The Washington State House and Senate have been trying to reach a deal on the state budget for 135 days with no agreement in sight. Governor Jay Inslee announced Tuesday that lawmakers will stick around for another 30 day special session after the most recent one failed to achieve a deal. The new fiscal year begins July 1, and if the legislature hasn’t produced a budget by then, the state will be forced into a government shutdown.

We’ll check in with Olympia reporter Austin Jenkins to hear about the major issues preventing a budget compromise.
