  • We’ve been dealing with wildfires wrong. OPB’s EarthFix has a new series that explores why we keep mishandling fires and the consequences of doing so. EarthFix editor David Steves and investigative and data reporter Tony Schick tell us more.
  • Last month, people interested in “self-knowledge through numbers” attended the Quantified Self Conference in Portland. Allen Neuringer, an emeritus professor of psychology at Reed College and early proponent of self-experimentation, gave the opening plenary. He’ll join us to discuss what he’s learned from his own and his students’ self-experiments and how this method has impacted his behavioral psychology research.
  • We hear from Democrat Carolyn Long, who is challenging Republican Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler in Washington’s third Congressional district. Long is a political science professor at Washington State University. This is her first run for public office. Herrera Beutler declined our invitation to appear on “Think Out Loud” with her opponent.
