It’s finally here! Now you can stream the highly anticipated six-party documentary series The American Revolution, by award-winning filmmakers Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt. Start streaming now with the PBS app.
America’s founding turned the world upside-down, revealing both the virtues and contradictions of the eight-year war. In 1775, a rebellion broke out in the thirteen British colonies along the Atlantic coast that ended with the birth of a new form of government. This, in turn, radically reshaped the continent and inspired centuries of democratic movements around the globe. Ken Burns breathes life into this history by telling the story of the revolution through the memories of the men and women who experienced it – American militiamen, British army officers, Native American soldiers and civilians, enslaved and free African Americans and others.
