For the second time since racial justice protests erupted in Portland, the City Council will weigh whether to pull a significant chunk of funding from the police bureau’s budget.

Portland City Commissioner Amanda Fritz wants to revive publicly financed elections. She's proposing a matching fund  designed to make small donations count for more.  

Portland is bringing in record revenues, but revenue is only half of the equation. The need for services is also growing, and the council is considering raising taxes on everything from marijuana sales to new construction.

Portland City Commissioner Amanda Fritz has easily secured another term.
