'That's My Art!' Jewerly Designer Ashley Mersereau

“That’s My Art” introduces us to jewelry designer Ashley Mersereau who creates her unique jewelry pieces at her home studio in Manzanita, Oregon.

She likes to collect her materials from many sources, including silk left-overs from Indian “saris”, electrical wire, copper sheeting from construction sites and found objects. Along with precious stones and gems, her designs are one-of-a-kind.

What started as a hobby has now grown into a small business with local shops and galleries in Cannon Beach carrying and selling her pieces. Ashley wears many hats to maintain her craft - bookkeeper, photographer, entrepreneur - but what propels her forward is the support of her community and why she returned to the place she grew up in.

“I think I had a sense that if you are from a small town, that you need to go out and do something really big and grand,” Ashley reflects, “and I came back here and there were all these people I loved and this landscape, that is so important to me. Why wouldn’t I want to be here? It felt really right.”
