Portland drivers should avoid Interstate 84 at the I-205 interchange if possible this weekend.
Several closures will be in place while crews repave the freeway. The westbound lanes of I-84 will be closed just west of 122nd Avenue starting at noon on Friday and traffic will be detoured onto I-205 southbound. On-ramps to I-84 westbound will be closed throughout the weekend.
The closures are expected to last until 5 a.m. Monday. This will be the first of several weekend closures in the area as crews repave 6 miles of the highway.
Work on the the project should wrap up by fall, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation.
