For the opbmusic staff, La Luz was perhaps one of the most highly-anticipated performances of Friday evening. In spite of those lofty expectations, they did not disappoint with their California-via-Seattle surf rock guitar riffs and four-part melodic harmonies.
The band took the Treeline stage Friday night in long jackets and short skirts with a feminine bravado that teased at the wave of awesomeness that was about to take hold.
They jumped out of the gates with upbeat songs like “Big Big Blood,” “Black Hole” and “With Davey” that drew in the masses quickly. But as the set wore on, the band lulled the crowd into a swaying amoeba like something out of an old Annette Funicello beach party flick.
It was the perfect Pickathon beach party.
